Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have at least a 50% overall score in PCM in the 10+2 or equivalent exam (or 40% for SC/ST/OBC) from a respected board or university. 
  • For the candidate's MBBS degree from an accredited university, a minimum cumulative GPA of 50% is also necessary.
  • Following the completion of an MBBS degree, a one-year mandatory internship is usually required.
  • They must also pass the NEET-PG entrance exam administered by the National Board of Examinations or private institute exams administered by AIIMS, JIPMER, and others, followed by state counseling.

Selection Criteria: NEET PG (Qualify)

Admission Process:

The candidate must meet the eligibility requirements and pass the NEET PG examination, administered by NMC each year, to be admitted to any of the Deemed Government, or Private colleges for MD Respiratory Medicine. The candidate must register for the state counseling process held by their respective state medical education council or committee in order to be considered for admission to private and government colleges. For instance, the admission to private and public colleges in Karnataka is handled by the KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority). 

An applicant must register with the Medical Council Committee (MCC) in order to be considered for admission to deemed colleges across India. The NEET qualifying scores and the cut-off scores for seats in the different institutions are the only criteria used to allocate seats.

Entrance Exams for Admission to MD Colleges

Candidates must be registered with either the State Medical Council or the Medical Council of India. Additionally, they must be eligible to appear for the NEET-PG entrance exam administered by the National Board of Examinations or private institute exams like AIIMS, JIPMER, PGIMER, etc., followed by state counseling.

  • The NEET PG is a national-level exam that is administered by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for MD admissions. The annual online exam is scheduled for 3.2 hours.
  • The PG Institute of Medical Education and Research conducts an annual MD program. The entrance exam is completed online and lasts for three hours. 
  • The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER PG), which is associated with JIPMER, offers MD programs. Each year, new individuals are accepted into these privately sponsored programs. This admission test, which is taken online, lasts for three hours.
  • AIIMS PG, a section of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, offers admission to MD programs once a year. For these programs, a lengthy online admission exam with a three-hour time limit is required.
