Eligibility and  Admissions

Eligibility Criteria

Under-Graduate

M.B.B.S 

  • The applicant must be at least 17 years old at the time of admission, or they must turn 17 on or before December 31, the year they are admitted to the first year of the M.B.B.S. or B.D.S. program.
  • Applicants for MBBS and BDS seats must be at least 25 years old on the test day. However, applicants who fall into the SC, ST, or OBC categories or who are eligible for reservation under the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act of 2016 may be admitted with a 5-year age exemption.
  • The candidates must have received at least 50% of the possible points in the qualifying examination's combined subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Biotechnology, in addition to passing each of those topics separately and English.
  • Candidates who belong to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Category I must receive at least 40%, not 50%, in the combined Physics, Chemistry, and Biology sections of the qualifying test and competitive admission exam. (See MCI Regulations, 1997 Amendment, published in the Government of India Gazette on May 29, 1999).
  • The marks earned in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Biotechnology combined in the qualifying examination shall be 45% for candidates with benchmark disabilities as specified by the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 rather than 50% for candidates in the General category and 40% for candidates in the SC/ST/OBC categories.
  • As long as all applicants complete two years of consistent, full-time study in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Biotechnology at the 10+2 level.
  • Students who completed the 10+2 exam as private students or from open schools are unable to take the National Eligibility and Entry Test (UG). Furthermore, it is not permitted for 10+2 students to take biology or biotechnology as an additional subject.
  • Those taking the Class XII exams this year may also, provisionally, appear for the entrance exam if they meet the requirements later.
  • Candidates from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will also be eligible for 15% All India Quota seats as these states have chosen to participate and contribute their MBBS/BDS seats for the candidates under 15% All India Quota starting in the academic year 2018–19.

For NRI Students

  • Candidate should have passed 12th standard (or equivalent) and should have obtained 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (taken together)
  • Should have passed in English.
  • It must have documents to prove their NRI/FOREIGN status (Eg. passport, work permit, school certificate, etc.)
  • An inward remittance certificate from the Reserve Bank of India is also mandatory.

Post-Graduate

MD/MS

In order to be eligible to participate in the MD/MS Degree and Diploma Programs, students must possess:

  • passed the last year's MBBS test from a medical college connected to any university that has been approved by the Indian Medical Council.
  • completed a one-year mandatory rotating internship in a teaching institution or another organization that has been approved by the Indian Medical Council.
  • completed the Karnataka State Medical Council's mandatory permanent registration process before beginning the course.
