B.TECH - Agriculture Engineering

Agricultural engineering, usually referred to as agricultural and biological engineering, is a subfield of engineering that uses scientific and technological principles to address issues in agriculture and related fields. It entails the conception, creation, and use of engineering solutions to raise agricultural production, effectiveness, and sustainability. Agricultural engineers apply their understanding of engineering principles to agricultural systems, machinery, equipment, and processes. They work on a variety of agricultural issues, including as crop production, soil and water management, animal production, post-harvest handling, and agricultural infrastructure.

Course Duration:

The UG degree in agriculture engineering is for 4 years from any university in the country for 10+2 students and is  3 years for Diploma graduates.

  • Sustainable practices are a core aspect, aiming to reduce environmental impact, conserve soil and water resources, and minimize the use of chemicals.

Syllabus

The curriculum of the B Tech program in Agricultural Engineering covers a wide range of subjects spanning eight semesters. These subjects include Farm Machinery and Equipment, Engineering Properties, Watershed Hydrology, Crop Process Engineering, and more. The program is designed to offer a comprehensive learning experience through a combination of lectures, laboratory sessions, hands-on practical field training, assignments, and workshops.

Eligibility for B.E./B.Tech:

  • Students must have completed a 10+2 / equivalent exam from a recognized board with Physics, Maths, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects.
  • The Students must be a minimum of 17 years of age by Admission Year.
  • Qualified in one or more Entrance Exams like  EAMCET, OUATET, KCET, BCECE CET,  etc.
  • Qualified in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research conducts this entrance exam for UG, PG, and PhD courses.

Admission Process

Admissions to the B.E/B. Tech programs are determined by the rankings in the National Entrance Examination (JEE) or State-level Entrance Exams like KCET, as well as direct University Entrance exams, among others. Notably, prestigious colleges also give weight to scores from the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Those aspiring to secure admission to esteemed institutions like IITs and NITs must excel in both JEE Mains and JEE Advanced.

  • The Consortium of Medical, Engineering & Dental college is the conducting agency of COMED - K exam.
