Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) is a public research university and technical institute located in Bihta, near Patna, Bihar, India. It is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. It is one of the second-generation IITs established by an Act of the Indian Parliament on August 6, 2008. Undergraduate

B.Tech

  • Candidates must have passed class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in the science stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).
  • Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories must have scored a minimum of 65% aggregate in class 12.
  • Candidates must have a valid JEE Advanced score.

IIT Patna Course Admissions Process

Admission to IIT Patna is based on the JEE Advanced score and JoSAA counseling. Students who qualify for the JEE Advanced exam are eligible for admission to all the IITs. 

Post-Graduate

M.Tech.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology / M.Sc or equivalent professional degrees.
  • Minimum 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 on 10 point scale) or equivalent in the qualifying degree.
  • Valid GATE score in the relevant discipline.

Admission process: 

The admission process for PG courses at IIT Patna is as follows:

Entrance Exam: Admission to most PG courses at IIT Patna is done through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). However, for admission to some courses, such as M.Sc. and Ph.D., other entrance exams such as IIT-JAM and UGC-NET may also be considered.

Application Procedure: The application process for PG courses at IIT Patna is generally online. Candidates can apply through the institute's website. 

Selection Process: The selection of candidates for admission to PG courses at IIT Patna is done based on their GATE score or other entrance exam score, and their academic record. For some courses, interviews may also be conducted.

Admission: The shortlisted candidates will be offered admission to PG courses at IIT Patna. The candidates will have to accept the offer of admission and pay the admission fee to secure their seats.

Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) offers a variety of scholarships to its students, including

Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship: This scholarship is available to meritorious and needy students enrolled in the undergraduate (UG) or 2-year Master of Science (MSc) program. 

Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme for RPF/RPSF: This scholarship is available to two wards per family of Railway Protection Force (RPF)/Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel who have secured a minimum of 60% marks in their 10+2.

National Fellowship: This fellowship is available to meritorious students enrolled in the UG and PG programs at IIT Patna. The fellowship amount is INR 12000 per month for UG students and INR 18000 per month for PG students.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University students: This scholarship is available to students enrolled in the UG and PG programs at IIT Patna from economically weaker sections of society. The scholarship amount is INR 1000 per month.

Library:

IIT Patna has sports facilities for both indoor and outdoor sports, including Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Tennis, Table tennis, Athletics, Chess, Carrom, Cricket, and Football. 

The campus also has a badminton court, basketball court, cricket ground, football ground, and a volleyball court. IIT Patna also has a sports coach to provide guidance and training to students.

In addition to these facilities, the gymkhana also organizes regular sports events and competitions for students, including the Inter-Hostel Sports Meet and the Inter-IIT Sports Meet.
