About IIT DMS

The Indian Institute of Technology Department of Management Studies(IIT-DMS), Delhi is the oldest part of IIT, Delhi. The department came into existence in 1993. The scholastic and infrastructural resources of the Department include one of India's Largest single collections of field reports in the management area. The computational facilities are state-of-the-art and comparable to the best academic institutions globally. The institute offers two two-year Master of Business Administration(MBA), which is regular, and also other branches of MBA with a focus on Telecommunications Systems Management, the institute offers three three-year part-time MBA programs with a focus on Technology Management. The entire course aims at creating holistic managers trained by very eminent faculty, which is also supported by experienced professionals as external faculty from India and abroad.

The DMS department also contributes to management research through its quarterly International Journal-Journal Advances Management Research. These achievements are now recognized in various rankings which rate DMS among top B-Schools in the country.

Education @ IIT DMS

The IIT DMS has been able to attract the leading firms of numerous sectors to take part in campus recruitment. Since inception, all students have been placed in reputed firms. The Department currently runs a two-year full-time MBA program with a focus on 'Management Systems' and 'Telecommunication Systems Management'. It also runs a three-year part-time MBA program with a focus on 'Technology Management' for executives. The students for the following two Full-Time programs are admitted through CAT, followed by a Written Ability Test and Interview. The award of a Ph.D. degree is, among other things, in recognition of high scholastic achievements, and original contribution to knowledge. Creative and productive inquiry is one of the basic concepts underlying research work. To overcome any deficiency in the breadth of fundamental training or proper foundation for advanced work, special foundation or predoctoral courses are given by the department.

Eligibility & Admissions IIT DMS :

Eligibility Criteria: 

The eligibility for the candidates to apply for the course in IIT DMS for various postgraduate programs is as follows:

MBA
  • Candidate with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in any discipline from any recognized university.
  • Minimum of 60% marks or 6. 00 CGPA over the scale 10 or equivalent qualifying exam(55% for SC/ST/PwD category)
  • Candidates appearing for the final semester degree or equivalent exam can also apply
MBA-Telecom
  • Candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree in the field such as Engineering/Technology/Architecture/ Pharmacy/B.Sc. Agriculture Engineering  (minimum 4 years after 10+2)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Physical/Chemical/Mathematical Sciences 
  • A minimum 60% aggregate or 6.00 CGPA on a 10 point Scale or equivalent in the qualifying degree (55% for SC/ST/PwD category)
  • Candidates appearing for the final semester degree or equivalent exam can also apply
Executive MBA
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 60% in any Discipline (55% for SC/ST/PH Category).
  • Minimum 3 years work experience.
MBA Foreign Students
  • Provide a statement/self-declaration of their proficiency in English
  • Provide names of two referees who can provide recommendations.
  • Independent thinking and proficiency in oral & written English

Accepted Entrance Exam: 

The MBA entrance exam accepted by IIT DMS is CAT(Common Aptitude Test) which will be conducted on 24 November, 2024.

For Foreign students exams like:

  • GATE, CSIR/UGC-NET, DIST INSPIRE, etc also international exams such as GRE, GMAT, etc.
  • Scores of English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, etc.

Admission & Selection Process:

The Admission/ selection process of the candidates in IIT DMB starts immediately after the CAT results are announced. The application will be released soon on the official website. The candidates have to follow these steps:

  • The eligible candidates will apply online for the Postgraduate courses by providing the necessary details. 
  • The candidates are shortlisted based on past academic performance and CAT Score. 
  • The shortlisted candidates attend the Written Test and Personal Interview(PI) at IIT Delhi. 
  • The final selection of candidates is done by considering the overall performance of the candidates in overall academics, entrance exam, written Test & Personal Interviews for admission.
  • The declaration of the admission results will be online on the official website of the institute.
  • The selected candidate will complete the admission process by completing the payment process.

For Executive MBA:

The eligible students who applied for admission are called for a written test and Personal interview in IIT DMS.

The life of students on the IIT DMS campus is filled with creativity and discipline. The activities organized on the campus provide the students with an invigorating and creative environment. Many competitions, cultural events, annual meets, etc. are organized on campus which involve students' and faculty's active participation. The institute also offers various Departmental events Alumni meets, case study competitions, conclaves, Global Field Studies, and Guest Lectures.

Campus Infrastructure:

The IIT DMS has fully air-conditioned, Wi-Fi enabled state-of-the-art lecturer theaters equipped with projectors to ensure the best possible environment for learning. The auditorium has a seating capacity of over 120 and hosts numerous guest lectures, seminars, and other programs. The institute has laboratory facilities such as a Research lab, Simulation lab, computational lab, Behavioral Lab, etc. with a projection system and PCs.

Hostel Facilities:

There are 13 Hostels in IIT, Delhi named after mountain ranges of India, among which 11 are boys hostels and 2 are girl’s hostels. The hostels accommodate over 5000 students. Each hostel has a mess, common room, reading room, indoor games room, and gym. There is a warden in charge of every hostel. An elected student body with a House Secretary, Mess Secretary, Cultural secretary, and Sports secretaries, for various functions in the hostel. 

Library:

The institute has A vast central library, which contains a large section of management books as well as the Department library. The Departmental Library has an extensive collection of books, working papers, audiovisual resources, and annual reports. There is also the facility of e-resources which includes INDEST, EBSCO, ACM Digital Library, Capitaline, Sage Management Journals, ISI Emerging Markets, Euromonitor(GMID), Emerald, IEEE, Springer Link, and ABI/ Inform which are accessible throughout the campus.

Sports & Fitness:

The huge 320-acre campus provides ample opportunities for sports and games. The institute has grounds for hockey, cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and tennis. The institute offers a multi-equipment gym and swimming pool.

Safety & Security:

The institute has a very big campus, hence security and safety have to be the main priority. The institute has a security department with responsible team members who often check around the premises to avoid any trespassing. All the blocks of the institute are under 24*7 surveillance and CCTV cameras are connected on every block. The entry and exit details of all the individuals are recorded by the security team.

Transportation Facility:

The institute offers transportation facilities for students traveling from far distances. The students can also depend on public transport for traveling. The students can attend their classes on time using the transportation and reach home safely.

The institute has an Amphitheater which can accommodate 3,500 people.
