Eligibility criteria : 

Undergraduate

BE / B.Tech / B.Sc

Candidates must have passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination from a recognized board with a minimum aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).

Additional Eligibility Criteria for Certain Programs :

  • B.Des. Program: Candidates must have passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in PCM and must also qualify for the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED).
  • Integrated B.Tech. + M.Tech. Program: Candidates must have passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination with a minimum aggregate of 80% marks in PCM.

Relaxation in Eligibility Criteria :

  • Reserved Category Candidates: Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the minimum aggregate marks required in Class 12 and JEE Advanced.
  • Female Candidates: Female candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the JEE Advanced cut-off for all UG programs.

Admissions

  • Admission to IIT Bombay UG programs is through the Joint Entrance Examination - Advanced (JEE Advanced). Candidates must qualify for JEE Advanced and secure a rank within the cut-off set by IIT Bombay for the desired program.

IIT Bombay Post-Graduate Course

  • Candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in their qualifying degree (55% for SC/ST/PWD candidates).

Entrance exam: Admission to most PG courses at IIT Bombay is through a national entrance exam, such as GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering), JAM (Joint Admission Test for MSc), or CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design).

Campus Life @ IITB

The campus is located at Powai, in East Mumbai, between the Vihar and Powai lakes. It has a lush green campus of about 545 acres and is divided into clusters of buildings. Campus life at IIT Bombay is a vibrant and enriching experience. The campus is home to over 10,000 students from all over India and the world and offers a wide range of academic, extracurricular, and cultural opportunities.

IIT Bombay Hostel facilities : 

IIT Bombay has 17 hostels (hostels no 1 to 16, hostel no -18 and Tansa) for students. Each hostel is an independent entity with its own mess facilities, recreational areas, etc. Students can also choose to make their own arrangements for accommodation outside the campus.

All hostels have basic amenities such as beds, tables, chairs, wardrobes, and bookshelves. Some hostels also have attached bathrooms. Students are required to bring their own bedding and other personal items. Each hostel has a mess that serves meals to students at subsidized rates. The messes offer a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Students can also choose to cook their own meals in the hostel kitchens.

Hostels also have a variety of recreational facilities such as common rooms, TV rooms, sports rooms, and gyms. Some hostels also have swimming pools.

Library :

The Central Library is located in the heart of the IITB campus. It is a four-story building with a total area of over 13,000 square meters. The library has a number of reading rooms, including a general reading room, a periodical reading room, and a number of group study rooms.

This is one of the largest and most comprehensive technical libraries in India. It has a collection of over 2.9 lakh books, 50,000 bound volumes of journals, and a large number of electronic resources. The library also houses a number of special collections, including the Rare Book Collection, the Thesis Collection, and the Standards Collection.

Sports and fitness :
