Founded in 1960, National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, is counted amongst India’s oldest technical institutions. It was formerly called Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC). This public deemed university is situated in Mangalore and is one of India’s 31 NITs. The Indian government has recognized it as an Institute of National Importance. The premier engineering institution offers numerous PG and UG programmes in the fields of science, engineering and management. It consists of 11 support centres and 14 academic departments. NITK Surathkal was ranked 6th amongst the country’s top engineering colleges by Outlook India, 16th by India Today and 14th by The Week.
