Odisha to Implement NEP 2020 in Universities and Colleges; Degree Completion Within 7 Years

Introduction

Odisha is all set to start the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 around all its universities and colleges with the motive to modernize higher education in the state. This decision is taken to align Odisha with national efforts by creating a more flexible and comprehensive education system. Key changes in this policy will cover a multiple-entry and exit system that allows students to pause and resume studies without losing any credits. The structure of this program is intended to make education more inclusive by accommodating students who may need to take breaks due to financial, personal, and professional reasons.

The most important feature of this policy is to allow students up to seven years to complete a degree, which is very useful for those who cannot complete their courses in the provided time frame. This helps the students to continue their studies even if they encounter any type of challenges with the flexibility to manage both studies and personal commitments.

In addition to this, the NEP 2020 also emphasizes skill development, multidisciplinary learning, and practical knowledge with the main aim of increasing students’ employability. The policy also works to support the introduction of digital learning tools and updated curricula to keep pace with changing industry demands.

Overall, it can be said that implementing NEP 2020 in Odisha’s higher education institutions is going to create a more adaptable and student-friendly environment for students by equipping graduates with updated skills and knowledge for the modern job market.
