IIT Kharagpur Signs MoU for Collaborative Homoeopathy Study Project

A special initiative was taken by IITG as it has signed an agreement with the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH) to work together on a research project. This study aims to test and review homeopathic medicines, according to  IIT Kharagpur.

CCRH’s Director General Dr. Subhash Kaushik explained that the project will involve the use of advanced techniques like Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Raman Spectroscopy to review and understand the properties of homeopathic medicines. Dr. Kaushik and IIT Kharagpur’s Deputy Director, Prof. Rintu Banerjee, signed the agreement.

IIT Kharagpur Director Prof. Virendra Kumar Tewari, who was also present, said “This collaboration aims to advance medical research by adding scientific and technological methods with traditional homeopathic practices. Prof. Tewari highlighted that Raman Spectroscopy could help study the unique vibrational properties of homeopathic medicines.”

The research team includes Dr. Ritika Hassija Narula and Dr. Chander Shekhar Tiwary from CCRH and IIT Kharagpur, along with Dr. Gurudeb Choubey from CCRH and Dr. Shivendu Ranjan from IIT Kharagpur. The duration of this project is 3 years and all the patents developed will be registered with support from the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC).

Publications from this project will be jointly released by both institutions. The project is titled "Study and Raman Study in Homeopathic Potentised Medicines: Characterisation, Standardisation, and Analysis of Imponderable Medicines."
