NMC Extends Deadline for New PG Medical Course Applications and Seat Increases
A sign of relief for medical students as The National Medical Commission’s (NMC) Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has extended the deadline to November 22 for candidates to start new postgraduate (PG) medical courses, increase seats in existing PG courses, or set up new PG medical colleges for the 2025-26 academic year.
Earlier the last date was October 17, which was extended to November 8, and now, as per the commission's latest announcement, it has been extended by another two weeks.
Medical colleges applying will need to upload the following documents with their applications:
- A valid Essentiality Certificate (EC) in the required format is either for starting new PG courses within an existing college or establishing a new, standalone PG medical institution.
- A valid Consent of Affiliation (CoA) in the specified format.
- A justification for the number of PG seats requested.
The board has stated that applications will only be processed once the required fees are paid online. Private medical colleges will also need to submit a bank guarantee for the necessary amount within seven days of receiving a Letter of Intent (LOI), while government institutions must submit an official undertaking within the same period.
