QS Asia University Rankings 2025: Chandigarh University Ranks 1st Among India’s Private Universities

A very proud moment for Chandigarh University as Chandigarh University (CU) has retained its position as the top private university in India, according to the QS Asia University Rankings 2025. CU now ranks 120th among the top universities in Asia, ahead of many well-known Indian institutions, including several IITs and NITs, as mentioned in their statement.

Earlier, CU got the 149th position in the QS World University Rankings 2024, but it has now done a remarkable job and is placed among India’s leading universities, ranking 1st among private universities and 11th among all Indian universities.

CU’s success also stands out internationally, ranking higher than universities in countries like China, Japan, and South Korea. Also, it is the youngest Indian university to achieve such a high rank among both public and private institutions in India.

The CU  has achieved remarkable results in all areas of QS's performance. Here is the breakdown of scores under various sectors:

These indicators show CU's consistent excellence in terms of academic standards, faculty quality, and international standing.

The CU statement claims that boosts in research, innovation, and academic standards nationwide have pushed India's representation in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025 to a record high. India is currently the most represented nation in Asia, with 162 Indian Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) included, including 21 new ones. This number is above China's 145 and Japan's 105 institutions.

As per the QS Asia University Rankings 2025 report, 6,278 universities from 25 countries on 11 key performance indicators, highlight India’s prominence in the region.
