Again a sudden update done by The National Testing Agency (NTA) has changed the tie-breaking rules for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025. From this year onwards, age criteria have been eliminated for the calculation of tie-breaking.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the detailed guidelines for JEE Main 2025 on October 28 and opened the registration process the same day, which will remain open until November 22.
Earlier, ties for candidates with the same total NTA scores in Paper 1: B.E./BTech were resolved in this order:
Now, the revised policy keeps the first seven criteria the same but removes the age and application number criteria. If there’s still a tie after the seventh criterion, candidates will be given the same rank.
If the exam duration is less than an hour, extra time will be given proportionally, with a minimum of 5 minutes and in increments of 5.
Another update this year involves the website domain. NTA replaced the previous JEE website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, with jeemain.nta.ac.in last year. However, this year, the agency has retained to the original website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
