JEE Main 2025: Number Of Exam Cities Reduced To 284 From 300

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has reduced the number of exam cities for JEE Main 2025, bringing the total down from 300 last year to 284. As per the official notification, the international exam cities have also been removed for this year’s examination.

Some states have experienced significant changes in their designated exam centers. Tamil Nadu has seen the removal of three cities—Nagapattinam, Coonoor, and Tiruppur—while two new cities, Nagercoil and Tiruvallur, have been added. Andhra Pradesh faced the most substantial reduction, with 12 exam cities removed. In Odisha, the number of exam centers dropped from 23 to 17. Additionally, Assam's Lakhimpur, which was included in previous years, is not listed for this cycle.

Conversely, Telangana has expanded its list, adding two new cities to meet the growing number of candidates. Maharashtra also adjusted its exam cities, removing two while adding four new ones. These changes reflect NTA’s efforts to optimize logistics while ensuring a smooth examination experience.

The registration for JEE Main 2025 is currently open, with the deadline set for November 22, 2024. Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can fill out the application form online by visiting the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. This year’s JEE Main 2025 will be conducted in two sessions, and students can choose their preferred session while registering.

These modifications in exam cities are part of NTA’s strategy to manage resources effectively and provide equitable access to students across states. Candidates are advised to check the updated list of exam cities and select their preferences carefully during registration to avoid last-minute issues.
