Introduction
The Verbal Ability (VA) section is an important section in the CAT Exam. The Verbal Ability section is as important as the other two sections in the Common Admission Test (CAT). While it can be easy for students from humanities backgrounds, it can be a bit challenging for students who are not from humanities backgrounds.
Here are some tips to master the Verbal Ability Section–
It is very important to have a strong base of grammar and vocabulary to do well in the VA section. You can start practising basic grammar and understanding the rules of grammar. Watching online tutorials can be a great way to improve your grammar. To improve vocabulary, you can start reading books, finding out new words and their meaning and using them in your sentences. Practising grammar and Vocabulary will help you form better sentences and understand sentence structure.
Reading is a great habit to enhance your verbal skills. However, forming a daily habit of reading can be challenging. You may feel bored during the initial days, but once the habit is built, it will be interesting. Make consistent reading a daily habit. Try reading different types of reading materials for better results. Read books, newspapers, magazines, etc. to enhance your verbal abilities.
Solving previous year's questions and sample papers gives you clarity about the type of questions in the exam, and you get familiar with the questions. This will help you solve the questions quickly and easily. Many such question papers are available at bookstores, stationery shops and even online.
Reading comprehension passages can help improve your verbal, critical thinking and analytical skills. It is advised to read the questions first and then read the passage. This will make it easier to find the answers to the questions while reading.
