A proud moment for the IIT madras doing something different. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras’s eXperiential Technology Innovation Centre (XTIC) is hosting an academia-industry supported ‘eXtended Reality’ (XR) summit. The summit will be conducted on the campus itself on November 16 and 17. Researchers who are working in fields such as mixed reality, virtual reality, and augmented reality are also invited to the summit.
According to the press release in order to ensure proper growth and innovation, the IIT Madras summit is crucial for reviewing the current state of experiential technologies and suggesting adjustments to the existing skill gaps.
According to IIT-M, notable people in the field of XR will be addressing the event, including Prof. Mel Slater of XR Psychology, Prof. Mandayam Srinivasan of MIT Hapticslab, and Prof. Steve LaValle, co-founder of the well-known Oculus.
Collaboration with "AWE" (Augmented World Expo), a leading international VR/AR event since 2010 that has served as a community of experts, creators, and pioneers in XR, will also be a feature of this summit. To prepare for a full-fledged AWE event in India by 2026, XTIC will conduct an exclusive "AWE Evening" during the summit this year.
