CAT 2024: 30-Day Study Plan To Score 99 Percentile – Section-Wise Strategies & Tips
The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024, conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta will be held on 24 November 2024. About a month is left for the exam. This is a computer-based test. A total of 66 questions will be asked in the CAT 2024 Exam.
There will be three shifts:
- 8:30 am to 10:30 am
- 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm
- 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
The paper will be divided into a total of three sections-
- Verbal Ability and Reading
- Comprehension (VARC)
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
- Quantitative Aptitude (QA)
The CAT 2024 Admit Card will be issued on 5 November 2024 on the official website— iimcat.ac.in. The exam will be held at exam centres across 170 cities in India.
CAT 2024 Preparation Strategy
Here is a 30-Day Plan for CAT 2024 Exam Preparation–
1st Week
- Master basic number conversions and quick calculation shortcuts, especially with decimals.
- Practice bar graphs, line graphs and pie charts to improve data analysis, emphasising trend identification.
- To understand data distribution, practice multi-parameter questions with spider charts.
- Understand rules for nouns, pronouns, verbs, conjunctions, articles, and prepositions, and practice correct sentence usage.
- Master profit and loss concepts, including cost price and percentages, and practice successive problems.
- Learn and apply Simple Interest (SI) and Compound Interest (CI) formulas for various rates and periods.
- Study blood relations using family tree diagrams, and enhance logical reasoning through ranking and directional questions.
2nd Week
- Focus on understanding polynomial properties and memorizing perfect cubes up to 10 for quick problem-solving.
- Understand mixture concepts and tackle ratio and proportion problems, especially in mixtures
- Practice linear and circular arrangements, converting circular formats for easier solving.
- Enhance your grammar skills by mastering subject-verb agreement and improving vocabulary through daily word learning. Review the different types of conditional sentences and their correct usage in various contexts.
- Read Comprehension passages from CAT's previous year's question papers. This will increase your speed and accuracy.
3rd Week
- Learn formulas for time, speed, and distance, including upstream and downstream motion.
- Master time and work concepts by understanding work rates and practice-related problems.
- Practice linear and circular race arrangements, escalator problems, and Venn diagram applications for logical reasoning.
- Practice permutations and combinations to understand selections, and focus on probability concepts.
- Familiarize yourself with game strategies for logical reasoning.
- Expand your vocabulary with synonyms, antonyms, and one-word substitutions for improved sentence completion.
- Focus on participle usage and parallel structure and analyze previous CAT reading comprehension passages to improve question recognition and response speed.
4th Week
- Revise coordinate geometry concepts.
- Master basic set theory concepts and Venn diagram problems.
- Revise arithmetic and geometric progressions and familiarize yourself with mathematical grids.
- Understand roots of quadratic equations and network problems, and revise arithmetic and geometric number series.
- Master mensuration formulas for 2D and 3D shapes, focusing on areas and volumes.
- Practice binary logic and logical connectives for reasoning problems.
- Work on para jumbles to understand sentence flow.
- Analyze Mock Tests for clarity about the type of questions and understanding of your preparation level.
We recommend covering the high-weightage topics in the first and second weeks. While you prepare for the CAT 2024, also focus on time management as it will help you complete the paper on time.
