Skill India Partners with Meta to Launch AI Assistant & Centers of Excellence in VR/MR

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has collaborated with Meta to launch two new programs — For the Skill India Mission an AI Assistant and establishing five Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in Virtual and Mixed Reality. In this partnership, an AI-powered chatbot, developed using Meta's open-source Llama model, will be launched to improve the learning experience on the Skill India Digital (SID) Portal. 

According to the official notice issued, giving access to Meta's open-source AI models focuses on promoting the collaborative e-governance framework that supports the adoption of impactful AI solutions, and aligns with the AI Mission of India to promote significant socioeconomic change.

Promoting a learning environment with VR/MR technology 

Also, the five Centers of Excellence (CoEs) established at National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Jodhpur, Chennai, and Kanpur with the use of state-of-the-art virtual reality technology, educators and students can develop their abilities in a safe, realistic and interesting learning environment.

The AI assistant collaboration aims to improve access to information, enhance literacy results, and give scholars easy support through an intuitive digital platform. According to the sanctioned press release, the five Centers of Excellence( CoEs) will offer realistic simulations, promote advanced engagement, and broaden access to skill development training.

By integrating technologies like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and mixed reality into the Skill India ecosystem, we are democratizing access to cutting-edge technologies enabling personalized learning pathways for the youth of the country. Our partnership with Meta today is a significant step towards achieving this goal.” said Jayant Chouadry minister of state for skill development and entrepreneurship.

Sarvam AI developed AI-powered chatbot

The project's technical partner, Sarvam AI, will supervise the creation and implementation of the chatbot, which will go through a six-month trial period. The chatbot, which is integrated into the SID Portal, will offer round-the-clock support, making it easier to quickly access lecture summaries, interactive Q&A sessions, course data, and pertinent videos for simple review.

Multilingual WhatsApp Chatbot

The chatbot will support English, Hindi, and Hinglish, along with a voice point that can be accessible through WhatsApp only,  adding its availability to colorful stoner groups across India, the platform will allow druggies to search for specific course motifs, find skilling centers, explore job rosters grounded on position and interests, and admit substantiated feedback to support ongoing enhancement. also, the chatbot will give precious analytics to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship( MSDE) to help optimize the platform’s overall performance.
