NEET UG 2025 Exam Pattern Insights: Key Trends and Question Analysis
The Exam Pattern of NEET UG 2025 has the same format that was established by the National Testing Agency in previous years but with some possible updates and trends which will be based on recent analysis. The exam pattern will be announced by the National Testing Agency with the notification and the information bulletin for NEET 2025 in the first week of February 2025, and the exam will be conducted in the first week of May 2025.
NEET UG 2025 Exam Structure
- Mode of Examination: Offline mode
- Duration of the exam: 3 hours and 20 minutes.
- Number of Questions: 200 questions, out of which students must answer 180.
NEET UG 2025 Marking Scheme:
- Plus four will be given for every correct answer.
- Minus 1 for each incorrect answer.
- No marks are to be deducted for unattempted questions.
NEET UG 2025 Subject-Wise Breakdown
The NEET UG Exam is divided into three major sections:
- Chemistry
- Biology (Botany and Zoology)
- Physics
Each subject has further two sections:
- Section A has 35 compulsory questions.
- Section B has 15 questions, from which students should attempt only 10.
Key Trends and Insights of NEET UG 2025
- Like previous years, Biology continues to carry the highest weightage, i.e 50% of the total marks means it has 90 questions out of 180. Candidates need to focus particularly on this subject to maximize their scores.
- The maximum number of questions in Biology is NCERT-based. For the Physics part, there may be an increasing trend toward conceptual questions and application-based problem-solving.
- The number of assertion-reasoning and m-type questions is increasing in both Biology and Chemistry.
- In recent exams of Physics section, students have reported a higher number of application-based questions in recent exams which require a good command of problem-solving techniques.
- In the Chemistry section, Direct theory-based questions from NCERT are common in Inorganic Chemistry. Questions often cover reaction mechanisms, concepts of stereochemistry, and functional groups.
- Time Management is an important key to Success in the exam. Students must balance speed with accuracy with only 200 minutes for 180 questions. It is essential to develop a strategy where Biology is answered quickly to leave sufficient time for Physics and Chemistry.
NTA has released a revised NEET 2024 final answer key and re-revised NEET 2024 scorecard and merit list on July 26, 2024. According to the revised merit list, the total number of toppers was reduced from 67 to 17. A total number of 13,15,853 candidates are qualified for NEET 2024 out of 23,33,162, as per the revised merit list. NTA has identified 135 unfair means cases and is disqualified from the NEET 2024 exam. As a result of this, the number has reduced from 23,33,297 to 23,33,162.
