In less than two weeks, over 400 undergraduate medical seats under the management quota at private medical colleges remain vacant in Karnataka with less than two weeks left for admissions for the current academic year.
There are many reasons for seats remain vacant in Karnataka MBBS.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has published the schedule for the mop-up round of seat allotment for medical courses because 596 seats remain unfilled after the second round. Out of 596 seats, 453 seats are reserved for the management quota, while 135 for the private quota. Only seven seats are available under the affordable government quota in private colleges.
Meanwhile, college management believes that the mop-up round will fill the remaining spots.
“Around 20 seats were vacant in our college after the second round but filled by the mod-up round. This year too, we are confident of getting admissions for all the available seats,” told a management representative of a private medical college in Bengaluru.
According to the officials, candidates willing to participate in the mod-up round have to pay the medical course fees as a deposit. If students get a seat in the mop-up round, the fees they've already paid will be adjusted. If a student is allotted a seat but they cancels it the deposited fee will not be returned. Candidates will have to pay a penalty according to KEA rules and will not be allowed any counseling such as All India counseling for the next academic year said by H Prasanna.
Students are allowed to pay fees and download fee receipts between October 5 to 8 choice filling will be allowed between October 7 and 14.
