India Announces $500,000 Scholarship for Indo-Pacific Students: Key Details
India has announced a new initiative for Indo-Pacific students to award fifty Quad scholarships, worth $500,000 to pursue a four-year undergraduate engineering program.
Quad Fellow scholarships are usually selected from the regions of South Korea, Australia, India, Japan, the United States, and Southeast Asian countries. They involve Cambodia, Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Quad scholarships:
After the fourth in-person Quad Summit, Wilmington declared that the quad scholarships offer the students worth $500,000, to pursue a four-year engineering programme at a Government of India-funded technical institution.
Quad summit 2024 :
The Quad Leaders' Summit took place on Saturday in his hometown, Wilmington, Delaware. They declared the scholarship with the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
According to the declaration, the Quad is committed to strengthening the deep and enduring ties between people.
Indian Space Technologies:
The Quad leaders recognize the essential contribution of space-related applications and technologies in the Indo-Pacific on space. The declaration said,” Our four countries intend to continue delivering Earth Observation data and other space-related applications to assist nations across the Indo-Pacific to strengthen climate early warning systems and better manage the impacts of extreme weather events “.
Also, the declaration said that India's establishment of a space-based web portal for Mauritius, to support the concept of open science for space-based monitoring of extreme weather events and climate impact, was welcomed by the Quad leaders.
The Quad scholarships are available for students who have exceptional academic excellence and results in their field, and a desire to lead a successful career with their skills and talent. Students from the Indo-Pacific region with exceptional academic results must avail themselves scholarships at government-funded institutions.
