Cabinet Approves National Centre of Excellence for Animation, VFX, Gaming, and Extended Reality

The union cabinet approved the establishment of the National Centre of Excellence ( NCOE) for Animation, VFX, Gaming, and Extended Reality (AVGC- XR) in Mumbai. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that this establishment is tentatively called IC ( Indian Institute of Immerse Creators), which will serve as a hub to enhance and attract media and entertainment.

 

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry will be the central government partners for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Immerse Creators.

Training in AVGC-XR : 

AVGC-XR sector plays an indispensable role in the entire Media and Entertainment sector, including filmmaking, OTT platforms, gaming, advertisements and several other areas. With this latest skills set in 

 AVGC-XR technologies, the NCoE will also undergo development that will bring experts from various fields like computer science, engineering, design and art that can lead to breakthroughs in the field of AVGC-XR around the globe.

 

The Union minister commented “This centre will also focus on India's Intellectual Property for both domestic and global outreach, leading to the creation of content based on India’s rich historical and cultural heritage. Also, this National Centre of Excellence ( NCOE) will function as an incubation centre for the startup companies in the AVGC- XR field”.

AVGC- XR activities: 

 The National Centre of Excellence ( NCOE) is driving a force to create significant employment opportunities for youth around the globe, thus creating growth in India's creative arts and design sector, and making India the hub for AVG XR  activities with the government’s ‘ Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
