UGC NET 2024 Re-Exam: Moderate Difficulty Level with Focus on Core and Dynamic Topics
Introduction
After the cancellation of the exam scheduled on 18 June 2024, the UGC NET Re-Exam 2024 was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from 21 August to 4 September 2024. It was a Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted in various cities of the country.
In total, 83 subjects were covered that focused on both core and dynamic topics. The difficulty level was moderate.
UGC NET Exam Analysis
Overall, the questions were attemptable. A brief analysis of the UGC NET Re-Exam has been done below.
- Mostly assertion-reasoning type and statement-based questions were asked, making it time-consuming and a bit lengthy.
- Paper 1 covered advanced concepts’ basics, including topics like Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Environment, ICT, and Higher Education.
- The Environment Section focused on important environmental issues like air pollution, pollutants, global warming, water treatment and diseases related to water pollution.
- Questions similar to the questions in exams like UPSC and State PSC were seen in the Higher Education Section. Emphasis was laid on the New Education Policy 2020. Questions related to the establishment years of universities and their chronological order were asked. Contributions of the Governor-General to the past educational policies were also covered.
- The Maths And Reasoning Section has expected questions. Data Interpretation was easier when compared to the exam on 18 June.
- Concepts like Swayam and Swayam Prabha channels were touched on in the Teaching Aptitude Section.
- Some questions focused on modern technologies like ChataGPT.
An interrelation between subjects was also noted. The application of ICT in research was highlighted, with questions on the various software used in research and teaching, including Learning Management Systems (LMS) and teaching aids. Questions on MS Excel and other problems were also there.
