The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has officially unveiled the schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025, a pivotal examination for aspirants seeking admission to prestigious postgraduate programs across India. Scheduled to take place from February 1 to February 16, 2025, the GATE 2025 exam will be conducted as a computer-based test (CBT) encompassing a total of 30 papers.
GATE 2025 will span four days: February 1, 2, 15, and 16, catering to both forenoon and afternoon sessions. This extensive schedule ensures flexibility for candidates, allowing them to choose convenient timings for their examinations. The exam will be conducted exclusively in the English language, maintaining uniformity and accessibility for all participants.
Prospective candidates can anticipate the commencement of the registration window in the last week of August 2024. Notably, candidates will have the option to appear for either one or two papers from the permissible two-paper combinations. This flexibility allows applicants to align their test strategy with their academic strengths and career aspirations.
Once obtained, GATE scores remain valid for three years from the date of result announcement, offering candidates a strategic advantage in planning their academic and professional trajectories.
IIT Roorkee assumes the mantle of the organizing institute for GATE 2025, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven other premier IITs, namely Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee. This joint effort is facilitated under the aegis of the National Coordination Board (NCB) – GATE, an initiative overseen by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
Successful candidates in GATE 2025 gain access to a wide array of Master's and direct Doctoral programs in fields encompassing engineering, technology, and architecture, as well as branches of science, commerce, arts, and humanities. Moreover, qualified candidates may avail themselves of financial assistance for these programs, sponsored by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and other government agencies, further enhancing accessibility to higher education.
