The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 tests held on February 16 are over, and the candidates are now eager to analyze their performance. Unofficial answer keys of Shift 1 and Shift 2 are available now, offering a chance for the aspirants to analyze their answers.
The 16th of February exams were conducted across several subjects, such as Civil Engineering (CE), Physics (PH), Biotechnology (BT), and Engineering Sciences (XE). Initial trends indicate that the general difficulty level of the question papers was moderate with an even balance of theory and application-oriented questions. Interestingly, there were more Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) on the CE paper this year that can affect the scoring patterns.
The CE paper was found to be moderately difficult, with certain portions challenging in-depth conceptual understanding. The PH paper too had a moderate level of difficulty, as per usual GATE standards. Test-takers indicated that the BT and XE papers were moderately difficult, with questions covering a wide range of topics.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will release the final GATE 2025 answer keys in the last week of February 2025. When released, the answer keys will be available for download on the official GATE 2025 website “gate2025.iitr.ac.in”. After release, there will be an interval where candidates can raise objections or appeal against the provisional answer keys with authentic evidence.
The candidates will be provided with the option to download their response sheets from the official website of GATE 2025. The response sheets, along with the official answer keys, will allow candidates to estimate their likely scores. Candidates can log in to the candidate portal by using their enrollment ID and password to download the response sheet.
Knowing the relation between marks scored and the resulting rank is important to the aspirants. As the marks-to-rank proportion is precise each year depending on paper toughness and the performance of the candidates, past trends can give a rough idea. For example, in recent years, scoring approximately 70 marks in the CE paper generally positioned candidates between 100 ranks. Though these numbers are suggestive, and final marks-to-rank conversion in GATE 2025 shall be arrived at after the process of evaluation.
The aspirants should regularly visit the official GATE 2025 portal for announcements about the release of answer keys, response sheets, etc., which are of relative importance.
