The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced major changes in CUET 2025, impacting several aspects of the exam, including the CUET 2025 exam date, CUET 2025 registration process, and exam format. These changes aim to streamline the process and offer greater flexibility to candidates.
One of the major changes in CUET 2025 is the shift to a fully online format. Unlike last year's hybrid mode, the CUET 2025 exam will be conducted entirely in CBT mode (Computer-Based Testing), which was decided to reduce operational issues and prevent paper leaks. The exam will also feature a standard exam duration of 60 minutes across all subjects, ensuring consistency and fairness for all candidates.
In CUET 2025, the number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37. This decision was made to focus the exam on essential subjects and make it more manageable for both students and exam authorities. Candidates will now choose from a more condensed subject list, with some subjects like entrepreneurship, legal studies, and teaching aptitude removed from the offerings.
Another key change is that candidates are now allowed to take the exam in any subject, regardless of their Class 12 background. This flexibility in choice of subjects is a welcome move for students, enabling them to pursue areas of interest beyond the restrictions of their school curriculum. However, candidates are limited to choosing only five subjects in CUET 2025, down from six subjects in previous years.
In a significant shift from previous exams, CUET 2025 will no longer feature optional questions. All candidates will be required to answer a fixed set of 50 compulsory questions, which means no choice in the questions to be answered.
Language-specific papers for 13 languages, such as English, Hindi, and Odia, will continue to assess proficiency in CUET 2025, while other languages, including foreign languages, will be evaluated based on the General Aptitude Test scores.
The CUET 2025 registration process is expected to begin in the last week of February 2025. While the CUET 2025 exam date has not been officially announced, it is likely to be held in mid-2025, with exact dates to be released on the official NTA website.
These changes will ensure that the exam is more streamlined, efficient, and aligned with current educational demands. Students can now look forward to a more flexible and focused examination process in CUET 2025.
