71 Smart Cities Equip 9,433 Smart Classrooms Across 2,398 Govt Schools: IIM Bangalore Report

Introduction 

According to an IIM Bangalore report, 71 smart cities across the country  have implemented 9,433 smart classrooms in government schools under the program of Smart Cities Mission. This program has a main goal to increase the quality of education in government-run schools through the integration of technology.

Smart classrooms has a feature of digital tools like digital libraries,interactive whiteboards, projectors, and internet-enabled devices which are used to create an engaging and effective learning environment. These classrooms works. to bridge the gap of digital divide by ensuring students in government schools and  have an access to modern educational resources which is similar to private institutions.

The initiative also focuses on teacher training by ordering the educators to utilize these tools effectively. Smart Education is implemented to improve learning outcomes by promoting digital literacy and foster innovation among all the students, especially in underserved communities.

The report shows that how the Smart Cities Mission has extended beyond infrastructure and urban development by contributing to social upliftment through education. The integration of technology in schools is aligned with India’s vision by creating a digitally empowered society.

The impact of these classrooms includes increased student engagement, reduced dropout rates, and improved academic performance.
