Technical Skills in High Demand: 50% Recruiters Prioritize Domain Expertise

Introduction 

The Unstop Hiring Kart, Skills and AI Report 2024 said that around 50% of recruiters prioritise technical and domain-specific skills over traditional qualifications. About 92% of human resource leaders agree that skills should be given more importance than degrees. According to the report, the future belongs to those who prioritise skills over degrees, embrace AI, and foster environments of continuous learning. According to the report, 50% recruiters required technical domain expertise. 

A significant shift in hiring practices was observed. Over 18% of graduates feel underconfident about being part of the workforce, according to the report. According to 65% of HRs, there is an absence of proper guidance and mentorship for these graduates. There is an urgent need to bridge the gap between traditional education and real-life skills. 

The report stated that despite the recognition of these challenges, 1 out of 5 organisations still neglect investment in skill development. Companies need to improve their hiring strategies and change their recruitment priorities.

The Unstop Hiring Kart Report 2024 states that 95% of students want to be assessed through skill assessments, and 46% want these assessments to take place even before resume screening. 73% of HRs think mentorship is the best solution to the skill gap. Only 13% of HRs believe graduates are very well prepared to work with AI, but 68% of Gen Zs think they are competent in AI. 85% of Gen Z want workplace training.
