JEE Main 2025 Preparation: Section-Wise Tips for Physics, Chemistry, and Math
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 is only a month away. To do well, you need a solid understanding of the concepts, a smart study plan, and regular practice. Experts emphasize that since all questions are mandatory this year, managing your time and maintaining accuracy will be crucial. The first session of the JEE Main 2025 will take place from January 22 to January 31.
The exam will be held online in a computer-based format and has two sections: Section A and Section B. Section A contains 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), while Section B includes 5 numerical value questions (NVQs). Unlike previous years, Section B will no longer have optional questions. Additionally, the exam will be available in 13 languages, including Hindi, English, Gujarati, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Section-wise strategies
Physics
- Understand key topics like mechanics, optics, electrodynamics, and modern physics. Stick to NCERT books and reliable study materials to build a solid foundation.
- Solve problems from past years’ question papers and take mock tests to improve speed, accuracy, and confidence.
- Focus on electromagnetism, mechanics, thermodynamics, and waves as these are commonly tested in the exam.
- Use techniques like approximation, dimensional analysis, and breaking problems into smaller parts to simplify complex questions.
- Avoid spending too much time on difficult problems. Start with easier ones to secure marks and revisit the tougher questions later.
Chemistry
- Most JEE Chemistry questions are based on NCERT content, so focus on understanding reactions, formulas, and mechanisms.
- In Physical Chemistry, focus on formulas for topics like thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. For Organic Chemistry, understand reaction mechanisms step by step.
- Go through previous year's questions to identify important topics like Coordination Compounds, Mole Concepts, and Chemical Bonding.
- Dedicate time to Physical Chemistry topics like electrochemistry and thermodynamics, and Organic Chemistry topics like General Organic Chemistry (GOC) and biomolecules.
- Regular mock tests and quick revisions will help keep concepts fresh in your mind.
Mathematics
- Avoid rote learning. Focus on truly understanding formulas and how they work.
- Solve questions from past papers and various mock tests. The more problems you solve, the more confident you’ll feel.
- In both practice and the actual exam, start with easier questions to save time and build momentum.
- Pay extra attention to Calculus, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, and Trigonometry, as these topics frequently appear in the exam.
