The Supreme Court has extended the date for getting the admission inNational Eligibility-Entrance Test Undergraduate  till December 30, 2024 as a "last chance".The Apex Court bench consist of Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan has granted the extension after taking into account the number of medical seats which are remaining vacant despite 5 rounds of counselling.

A batch of pleas and miscellaneous applications are filed with a prayer for directions to the Admission Authorities for conducting special counselling rounds for the vacant seats which are  remaining even after five rounds of counselling. One of the pleas was for the conversion of one NRI seat which is vacant to the Management quota.

During the case proceedings, the senior counsel appearing for the National Medical Commission (NMC) submitted the number of vacant seats as a one-time measure, without being treated as a precedent and the Court may extend the period. The Court also said that one miscellaneous application had also been filed by NMC for approval of the extended time limit.

This development has offered a final opportunity for the candidates who are eligible to secure admission into medical programs for the current academic year. Prospective students are advised to stay informed through the official website and get the information about the updated counselling schedules to take advantage of this extended deadline.
