Two candidates who took the CLAT 2025 exam have filed a case in the Supreme Court against the provisional answer key for the test. The candidates, Anam Khan and Ayush Agarwal, who applied for Master of Laws (LLM) admissions, claim there were several mistakes in the way the exam was conducted
They argue that provisional answer key has errors also wrong answers provided for 12 questions. The CLAT 2025 exam was held on December 1, 2024, by the Consortium of National Law Universities, and the answer key was released the next day on December 2. But candidates say that the time allowed to challenge the answer key was not enough since the portal for objections closed on December 3 at 4 PM. The final answer key is expected to be out on December 9, and the results are set to be announced on December 10, 2024.
The candidates are asking for a delay in releasing the results and starting the counseling process. They are also unhappy about having to pay Rs 12,000 to challenge 12 answers. According to their complaint, the Consortium charged Rs 4,000 as the exam fee but still demanded Rs 1,000 per objection, which they believe is unfair
The candidates also claim they were treated unfairly during the exam. They received the sealed question paper and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet after 2 PM, even though the exam was supposed to start at 1:50 PM. They argue this delay and other issues in the exam’s management violated their fundamental rights under Articles 14 and 21A of the Constitution.
The candidates are represented by lawyers Manasi Bhushan, Shakshi Sharma, Sanjana Patel, Akshit Chaudhary, Chetan, and Ankit Chaturvedi (AOR).
