ApaAR ID Registration Guide: Academic Bank of Credits and Digilocker Login Details

The Indian government, under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, has introduced several reforms to improve education. One of these initiatives is APAAR, which stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It’s a system designed to give every student in India a unique ID for storing their academic records digitally.

APAR 12-Digit ID for Students

The APAAR ID is a 12-digit unique identification number that serves as a central hub for all a student’s academic records. It keeps track of everything from report cards and degrees to co-curricular achievements. Think of it as a digital backpack where all your certificates, grades, and accomplishments are safely stored online.

Academic Bank of Credits Portal

The APAAR ID is part of the "One Nation, One Student ID" vision under NEP 2020. It works hand-in-hand with the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), a virtual database that keeps a record of the credits students earn as they complete different parts of their studies.

How to Get an APAAR ID?

Schools are leading the process of creating APAAR IDs for students. Here’s what the process looks like:

  1. Verification of Student Details
Schools will check and confirm a student’s information, such as name, date of birth, and school records.
  2. Parental Consent
If the student is under 18 schools must get permission from their parents or guardians.
  3. Identity Authentication
Students must verify their identity using AADHAR or another valid ID.
  4. Creation of APAAR ID
Once everything is verified, the APAAR ID is generated and linked to DigiLocker for secure storage and access.
