UGC Chairman Explains Extended Degree Programs, ABC Credits, and NCRF on APAR Portal

Introduction 

The UGC Chairman, M. Jagadesh Kumar, has given details about the implemented changes in higher education recently which will cover:

Key Highlights

1. Academic Bank of Credits (ABC): This platform will help the students to store and track credits digitally which has earned across academic, vocational, or experiential learning. These credits can be redeemed for qualifications by transferring between institutions and applied toward resuming education after breaks by encouraging lifelong learning and interdisciplinary exploration.

 

2. Extended Degree Programs: Students can also continue their flexible and extended degree programs. The NCrF facilitates students by providing the ability to earn credits with varying durations and supports them to slow down or speed up their education journey based on individual needs, as long as the credit requirements are met.

 

3. National Credit Framework:

 

These initiatives will reflect the NEP 2020 by focusing on flexible, multidisciplinary education and skill enhancement which will make Indian education more accessible, equitable, and globally competitive in the world.
