What is New in JEE Mains 2024? Revised Fees, New Website, and Other Changes You Must Know
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has begun the registration process for JEE Main 2024, allowing eligible candidates to apply until November 30, 2023. This prestigious engineering entrance exam will be conducted in two phases, with the first session scheduled from January 24 to February 1, 2024, and the second session from April 1 to April 15, 2024.
Here are the notable changes introduced by NTA for JEE Main 2024:
- New Official Website: The host website address for JEE Main 2024 has been updated to jeemain. nta. ac. in, replacing the previous jeemain. nta. nic. in. The revamped website now includes a chatbox feature to assist students effectively.
- Registration through ABC, DigiLocker: During the registration process, candidates are required to create a Digi Locker account via the NAD portal or an Academic Bank of Credits ID (ABC ID). Those opting not to register through Digi Locker / ABC ID must report one hour prior to the entry time at the examination center on the day of the exam.
- Additional Registration Options: Candidates can now register using their passport number, PAN Card number, or Aadhaar enrollment number. However, choosing these options may necessitate arriving at the exam center earlier.
- Reduction in Exam Cities: The number of exam cities for JEE Main 2024 has been reduced to 300 in India, down from 304 in the previous year.
- Revised Syllabus: The JEE Main 2024 syllabus has undergone revisions, with certain chapters being entirely removed, and specific sub-topics omitted.
- Application Fee Changes: The NTA has revised the JEE Main application fee. Male candidates in the General-EWS and OBC NCL categories will now pay Rs 900, down from the previous Rs 1,000. Female candidates in these categories will pay Rs 800.
