The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024, will commence on November 24, with an attendance rate of 89%, and 2.93 lakh candidates are appearing for the exam out of the 3.3 lakh registered applicants. This high turnout underscores the exam's importance as a gateway to India's premier business schools which include the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), and other top MBA institutions.
The CAT 2024 exam was conducted in three slots having three sections:
Candidates rated the exam at an overall difficulty level as moderate to challenging, consistent with past trends. Each correct answer will get three marks and one mark was deducted for incorrect responses in the multiple-choice questions.
The CAT is said to be the most competitive management entrance exam in India, for the candidates to get admission into prestigious institutes like IIMs. Percentile scores play an important role in shortlisting candidates in which top IIMs often require a 95+ percentile for general category applicants.
The official answer keys are going to be expected soon, and candidates will have the opportunity to raise their discrepancies before the results are announced. The final results are supposed to be out by mid-December 2024 on the official CAT portal at iimcat.ac.in.
The consistent participation rate in CAT highlights its importance for aspiring business leaders which will offer a way to high-quality management education and lucrative career opportunities in India as well as abroad.
