CBSE Board Exam 2025: Reduced Syllabus, Open Book Exams for Select Subjects Announced

According to media reports, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a reduction of up to 15% in the syllabus for Classes 10 and 12 for the 2025 board exams. The step is being taken to prioritise in-depth learning and reduce rote memorisation.

The Board's regional officer, Vikas Kumar Agrawal, made this announcement at a school principal's summit, 'Bridging the Gap' in Indore. However, no official notification has been released by the CBSE. The CBSE officer emphasised that the syllabus cut-back aligns with the board’s evolving educational framework, which provides the students space to explore topics more comprehensively.

Internal Assessment Weightage

A change in the weightage of the internal assessment has also been made. According to the change, 40% of the final percentage will be based on internal assessment marks and 60% will be based on the final Board exams.
