CAT 2024 Slot 3 Analysis: Moderate Questions, Easy DILR, Lengthy VARC Passages

Introduction 

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 was conducted yesterday, ie., 24 November 2024.  The test was conducted by the Indian Institute Of Management (IIM) Calcutta. It was an online exam. The exam was conducted in 170 cities. 

The CAT 2024 VARC section had 24 questions and a weightage of 72 marks, the DILR section had 22 questions and a weightage of 60 marks and the Quantitative Aptitude section had 22 questions and a weightage of 66 marks. A total of 68 questions were asked this year. 

CAT 2024 Slot 3 Analysis

Based on feedback from candidates, the CAT 2024 Slot 3 Analysis has been given below– 

There were a total of 24 questions in the Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) section for which students were allotted 40 minutes. In slot 3, the VARC section difficulty level was considered tough, with 24 questions, including topics like AI, ChatGPT, forecasting, para jumbles, and fill-in-the-blanks.

The Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) section had 22 questions and was relatively straightforward. The paper featured three DI sets: one on bar graphs with four questions, another on GDP per capita for eight countries with two extra for comparison, and a line graph on temperature. The LR section included sets on ATM intersections and food-related questions. 

The QA (Quantitative Aptitude) section of CAT 2024 slot 2 had 22 questions, and the time allotted was 40 minutes. In this section in CAT 2024 slot 3 candidates encountered a mix of difficulty levels.
