Introduction
PIMC (Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences, Comsat) has commenced its MBBS program in 2024 by welcoming its first batch of MBBS students. The orientation program organised for the new students was very exciting which was marked as the beginning of their medical education journey.
During this orientation session, the students were introduced to the faculty members, staff and the campus facilities. They all were informed about the academic curriculum, the importance of practical learning and the expectations for their performance. The students were also given knowledge about many of the extracurricular activities, research opportunities and student support services which are available to them during their time at PIMC.
This program lays emphasis on the importance of hard work, dedication and compassion, with some qualities which are essential for successful medical professionals. The students were told to take full advantage of the resources provided which included modern laboratories, clinical training areas and a comprehensive library.
They will be pioneers in shaping their own future of the medical program at PIMC as the first batch of MBBS students with the support of experienced faculty and a commitment to excellence. These students are ready to embark on a rewarding and challenging way toward becoming doctors and to contribute to healthcare in the future.
Dr. (Prof) Bhabani Prasad Chakravarty emphasised the importance of empathy in patient care which is advised to the future doctors for approaching each and every patient with sensitivity and thoroughness. He advised.“Examine first, diagnose later. Only then can you ensure proper care.”
On this occasion Prof. GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM, shared some words on the holistic development of students by encouraging them to embrace challenges and seize opportunities. He advised the new MBBS students to “Start dreaming, have a vision, and pursue it relentlessly,”
