Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate (B.E./B.Tech)

  • Those who have passed Class 12 or any other equivalent examination from a recognized board are eligible to apply.
  • They must have secured at least 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry /Biotechnology/ Biology /Electronics/Computer (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B categories).
  • Valid Karnataka Common Entrance Test/COMEDK UGET score Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka Undergraduate Entrance Test scores.

Postgraduate (M.E./M.Tech)

  • A bachelor's degree in the field of relevance must be obtained from a recognized university.
  • They must have secured at least 50% in the qualifying examination and in the case of SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B categories, 45%.
  • Apart from this, an applicant is also required to have a valid score in the graduate aptitude test in engineering or the Karnataka postgraduate common entrance test.

Doctoral Programs (Ph.D.)

  • Candidates should have a Master's degree from an accredited university in their special field.
  • There, they should have earned at least 55% marks in the qualifying examination with 50% of marks for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B categories.

Admission Process

The National Institute of Engineering, Mysore has separate steps for admission into undergraduate programs and postgraduate studies. Here is the process in detail:

Entrance Exam Registration

  • The applicants must appear for the relevant entrance test:
  • They have to appear for either KCET or COMEDK UGET for admission to B.E./B. Tech.
  • They are, however, required to appear for Karnataka PGCET for admission into M. Tech and MCA programs.
  • The exams are registered by conducting bodies.

Online Application

  • Applications are only done online at the NIE official website.
  • The application form contains personal details, academic credentials, and scores acquired at entrance exams.
  • Application fees should be done via either online or demand draft.

Document Verification

  • The candidates short-listed are called to appear for document verification during the counseling process.
  • They must, along with the entrance exam scorecards, produce all kinds of documents, like mark sheets and certificates.
  • Verification as such is performed only to confirm the documents submitted.

Seat Allotment

  • Seats are allotted based on the rank secured by a candidate in the particular entrance examination and his preference.
  • All candidates must pay course fees within a stipulated time to guarantee their admittance.

Reporting to NIE

  • NIE Mysore gives them a seat after which they have to report there on the date specified.
  • They should produce all documents required such as originals and migration certificates, for instance.
  • The candidates are then admitted into their respective programs where they can begin their academic journey at NIE.

  • Scholarships to the top three students every semester for excellent performance.
  • The students achieving the highest scores in the subjects of Mathematics, Engineering Graphics, Transportation Engineering, etc., earn scholarships.
  • In the first year of B.E., a scholarship is provided to all rankers, and then further in successive years up to the course completion, for the period of study
     

Government Scholarships

  • Government scholarship: pass, Vidyasiri, post-matric scholarship, National scholarship, and State scholarship are provided to the students of NIE Mysore.
