Selection Process:

Given below is the selection process for MIT

1. Entrance Examination (MET)

Manipal Entrance Test (MET): The first step in the selection process is the MET, a national-level entrance exam conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

Exam Pattern: The MET is a computer-based test that typically includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English.

Scoring: Each correct answer earns the candidate 4 marks, while each incorrect answer results in a deduction of 1 mark. The score from this exam plays a crucial role in the ranking of the candidates.

2. Merit List

After the MET results are declared, a merit list is prepared based on the candidates’ performance in the entrance test. This merit list determines the ranking of candidates and is used for further stages of the selection process.

3. Counseling Process

Counseling Rounds: Based on the rank in the merit list, candidates are called for counseling. The counseling process is conducted in multiple rounds.

Choice Filling: During counseling, candidates must select their preferred branch of engineering and campus. Choices are filled online before the counseling sessions.

Seat Allotment: Seats are allotted to candidates based on their rank, availability of seats, and the preferences they have submitted. The allotment is done in the order of merit.

4. Document Verification

Once a seat is allotted, candidates must participate in the document verification process. They need to provide original documents for verification, which typically include:

10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates

MET scorecard

Transfer certificate

Migration certificate (if applicable)

Category certificate (if applicable)

Passport-size photographs

5. Admission Confirmation

Fee Payment: After successful verification of documents, candidates are required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seat.

Provisional Admission: Once the payment is completed, a provisional admission letter is issued to the candidate.

6. Reporting and Final Admission

Candidates must report to the institute on the specified date to complete the final admission formalities, which include the submission of original documents, payment of the remaining fees, and registration for the course.

7. Lateral Entry Admissions

For diploma holders, MIT offers lateral entry admissions directly into the second year of the B.Tech program. Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria and may need to undergo a separate entrance exam or merit-based selection.

This selection process ensures that only the most qualified candidates are admitted to MIT, ensuring a high standard of education and academic excellence.
