Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ST/PwD category).
• Candidates who graduated in 2020-2023 with pass/pass marks in one or more semesters due to COVID-19 are also eligible.
• For integrated master's or dual degree holders, the percentage of marks equivalent to a bachelor's degree will be considered.
• Final year bachelor's students can apply provisionally but must submit a certificate confirming 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) by June 30, 2024.

Entrance Exam

• Candidates must appear for CAT and meet the minimum prescribed sectional and overall scores.
• The minimum CAT cutoff was lowered to the 85 percentile for the 2024 intake.
• The general category minimum CAT 2023 sectional cutoff for quantitative ability is 75 percentile.
• In other categories, the minimum required percentile is reduced to 65 or lower.

Selection Process

• Shortlisting is based on CAT score (30%), Personal Interview (48%), Writing Ability Test (8%), academic diversity (6%), and work experience (8%).
• WAT has been reintroduced with an 8% weightage.
• The CAT score weightage has been reduced from 40% to 30% in the final selection.

Work Experience

• A maximum of 8 points will be awarded based on the length of work experience after completing the bachelor's degree.
• Internships, apprenticeships, and unpaid work will not be considered.
• Candidates must provide a letter from the employer(s) stating the start date, end date, position, and a brief description of the role.

Admission and Selection Process:

The admission and selection process at IIM Calcutta (IIMC) for the MBA program in 2024 is structured as follows:

Shortlisting

Candidates are shortlisted for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) based on their performance in the Common Admission Test (CAT). IIM Calcutta assigns a weightage of 30% to CAT scores in the shortlisting process.

WAT and PI

Shortlisted candidates are asked to take part in the WAT and PI rounds. The WAT assesses the candidate's critical thinking and writing skills, whereas the PI is a personal interview done by a panel of faculty members. The WAT and PI rounds account for 48% of the final selection process.

Final Selection

The final selection of candidates is based on a holistic assessment that includes performance in the CAT, WAT, PI, academic records, work experience, and other suitable factors.

Scholarships

IIMC Special Need-Based Scholarship

• Open to MBA students with gross annual family income below ?15 lakhs in the previous year
• The amount is determined based on the applicant's economic status, family assets, dependents, etc.

SC/ST Scholarship

• ?150 per month for 10 months awarded to all SC/ST MBA students

Scholarships for Entrepreneurship

• A monthly stipend of ?40,000 for up to 3 years is given to 2 students per batch opting out of placements with a business plan

Scholarships for Non-Profit Careers

• 2 students per batch get ?3-4 lakhs/year for up to 3 years to pursue careers in NGOs

Doctoral Studies Scholarship

• 2 students per batch awarded ?3-4 lakhs/year for up to 3 years to pursue PhD in India or abroad

Alumni Funded Scholarships

• PGP Alumni Endowment Funds: ?1-3 lakhs to economically/socially challenged students
• PGP 1983 Merit Cum Means Scholarship: Up to ?2 lakhs based on family income and merit
• PGP 1969 Batch Scholarship: Up to ?5 lakhs each to 2 students based on 1st year PGP performance
