Important Instructions for CAT 2024 Exam Day: Must-Follow Rules and Regulations
Candidates appearing for CAT 2024 must abide by some of the most stringent guidelines and rules to make the experience go smoothly on the examination day. The Common Admission Test, or CAT, is the entrance exam through which admissions at prestigious management institutes are governed by India's top-notch institutes. The CAT exam is scheduled for November 24, 2024, and will be conducted in three slots. With thousands of aspirants fighting for a few hundred seats at top business schools, understanding and following exam day guidelines makes all the difference in the performance of the candidate.
Key Instructions for CAT 2024 Exam Day
- Reporting at Exam Center
- Reporting Time: At least two hours before the scheduled exam time at the exam center to allow adequate time for documentation verification and security checking procedures. For eg. If your exam commences at 9:30 AM, then ensure reporting by 7:30 AM.
- Location Familiarity: Familiarize yourself with the path and roads leading to the exam center, if possible, before the test day. This may help avoid nervousness at the door on exam day.
- Required Documents
The following documents are to be taken to the examination hall to allow entry:
- Admit Card: A printed copy of the CAT 2024 admit card is compulsory. It should be printed on A4 size paper and must have your photograph as per the requirements.
- Identity Proof: A valid government-issued photo ID such as an Aadhar card, passport, or voter ID, needs to be produced for verification.
- Additional Documents Required: For candidates applying in any of the categories mentioned below under the reserved groups: medical certificates or scribe affidavits wherever applicable.
- Dress Code Rules
The dress code must be strictly followed in order not to encounter any issues during security checks and uniformity.
- Clothing: Wearing simple and soft clothes with as few pockets and decorations as possible. Clothes with big buttons or shiny ornaments are likely to raise some suspicions when checking.
- Footwear: Simple sandals or slippers should be worn; not those with thick soles or accompanied by metal attachment.
- Accessories: Minimize ornamentation in terms of jewelry and accessories; caps and headgear are not permitted inside the examination room.
- Prohibited Items
For an unbiased test environment, the following items are strictly NOT allowed in the examination hall:
- Electronic Devices: Cell phones, calculators, smart watches, or any other electronic devices are strictly not allowed. No bags and food items of all kinds are allowed in the examination hall.
- Stationery: All stationery for writing and rough work will be provided by the examination center. Candidates are not allowed to carry any material from outside the examination center for rough work, except that provided at the center.
- Procedures on Exam Day
Upon arriving at the examination center, a candidate passes through a series of processes:
- Security Checks: Upon entry into the hall, be prepared for thorough frisking and biometric identification.
- Seating Arrangement: Upon verification, walk straight to your seat without any last-minute rush.
- Login Process: The candidate will log in to his test screens within a stipulated time once he enters the hall. Do strictly what the screen indicates.
- Post-Exam Procedures
After completing the exam:
- Submission of Materials: Hand over all the materials distributed such as rough sheets as directed by the invigilators before leaving the examination hall
- Exit Procedure from the Examination Hall: Exit in an orderly manner after having been permitted by the staff members to ensure a smooth exit by all candidates.
