CLAT Merit List 2025
The admission of candidates to Law UG and PG courses at various NLUs is based on the merit list prepared by the NLUs after the results are announced. The merit list is prepared or based on the candidate’s rank and marks obtained in the CLAT examination. Other factors considered during the preparation of the merit list are the category they belong to, and whether the candidate opted for the particular NLU during the registration.
Some of the factors based on which the CLAT Merit List is prepared are as follows:
- Marks obtained by the candidate
- Candidate’s Rank
- Category which the candidate belongs to
- NLU preferences provided by the candidate during registration.

The merit list was supposed to be released by the Consortium of NLUs on 26 December 2024, But due to some delay, the merit list will be released soon.

CLAT 2025 seat allotment
The students have to make sure the rank and marks obtained by them are eligible for the CLAT counseling process as soon as the CLAT results are out. The eligible candidate has to register for the CLAT Counseling within the Deadline, Delay in registration is not entertained. The basic steps followed during the seat allotment process are as follows:
- The students have to check and download the CLAT results. The candidate has to verify the All India Rank obtained by them fulfills the eligibility criteria of the NLUs.
- Students have to check for the name on the ‘Invite List’ for their ranking, on the official website.
- The shortlisted candidates on the ‘Invite List’ will be sent a mail/SMS to appear for the counseling.
- The Candidate has to submit the necessary documents online or offline and pay the registration fee. The registration fee will be adjusted during the admissions in the NLUs.
- The students have to appear for the counseling process, where the candidate can freeze the seat if satisfied else float or exit if they want. The counseling process is conducted in 5 rounds overall and the dates will be announced on the official website.

CLAT 2025 Counselling Registration Open
The Consortium of NLUs had opened the registration link until 20 December 2024, the eligible candidates could register to counseling process and upload the documents and pay the registration fee. The candidates on the merit list will be invited for the counseling process through a mail/SMS on the registered mail ID and phone number respectively. The steps to register for counseling process are as follows:
- Visit the official website of the Consortium of NLUs.
- Login to the CLAT account and validate invite for counseling process.
- Complete the payment process by providing bank account details.
- Once the registration fee payment is completed, the registration process completes as well.
The candidate has to pay INR 30,000 as the registration fee during the registration process. The amount will be refunded with certain deduction in the fee depending on the circumstances.

Download CLAT Merit List 2025
The CLAT First Merit List will be released soon on the official website of the Consortium of the NLUs. The candidate has to follow these steps to download the CLAT Merit List:
- Visit the official website of the Consortium of NLUs.
- Choose CLAT 2025 and then click on the CLAT First Merit list in the notification section.
- The CLAT Merit list with the candidate names and marks with ranks will be displayed.
- Download the Merit List in the PDF format for future reference.

CLAT Merit List 2025 Tie Breaker Rule
If two or more candidates have obtained the same marks, then the Consortium will use the Tie Breaker Rule to prepare the merit list. Some of the factors considered for tie breaking process are:
- The candidate with higher marks in Legal Reasoning will be ranked higher.
- The candidate with higher age will be given higher rank, if the tie is still intact.
- If the tie still exist, then computerized lots will be drawn.
CLAT Cut off 2025
The candidates can find the cutoff of each NLU through the Provisional allotment list released to the Consortium of the NLUS. The candidate has to follow the below steps to check the CLAT Cutoff 2025:
- Visit the official website of the Consortium of NLUs.
- Click on CLAT 2025, and Click on the Provisional Allotment list for each round in the notification section.
- Click on the NLU whose cut-off is required on the Provisional Allotment List.
- The Cutoff will be displayed, download and save the same for future.

1) Are CLAT marks and CLAT Ranks the same?
No, the CLAT Marks and CLAT rank are not the same, rather the Candidate will be provided with the rank based on the marks obtained by the candidate in the CLAT exam.
2) What happens when two students have obtained the same marks in the CLAT examination?
The Consortium uses Tie Breaker rule to prepare a merit list in case the two or more students have the same CLAT marks.
