Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna was established by the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 (Act No. 24 of 2006) and has UGC’s approval under section 2(f) and section 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. The primary objective of the University is to offer multidisciplinary, research-based comprehensive legal education to young legal minds and simultaneously instill in them respect for the rule of law and values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. 

The University offers five-year integrated undergraduate B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree programs and a one-year Master of Laws (LL.M) program. The University also offers research programs such as Ph.D., D. Phil., and LL.D. The courses seek to enable students to meet the requirements of Corporate Law Firms, the Judiciary, and the Legal Profession, including Alternative Dispute Redressal.
