The Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is a statutory university established by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat National Law University Act,2003. It is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), International Association of Law Schools (IALS), Asian Law Institute (ASLI), and Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute.
The institute offers a five-year undergraduate program BA/B.Com/ BBA/B.Sc./ BSW LL.B, a one-year postgraduate program LLM, a PG Diploma in Biotechnology, Law and Policy, a PG Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights, a PG Diploma in Medical Law, Policy and Ethics, a Diploma in Ancient Indian Legal Theories and Philosophy, and PhD programs.

Undergraduate Law Degree Program: GNLU offers five years integrated Honors degree programs i.e., BA LLB (Hons.); BCom LLB (Hons.); B.Sc. LLB (Hons.); BBA LLB (Hons) and BSW LLB (Hons) at its main University, Gandhinagar. Out of the total allocation of seats by the CLAT Office, further allocation of the stream will be done based on merit-cum-preference, subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
Post-Graduate Law Degree Program: GNLU offers four specializations at the LL.M program, namely Corporate and Business Law; Constitutional and Administrative Law; Criminal and Security Law; and Intellectual Property Law at its main University, Gandhinagar. Specialization will be offered only if ten students opt for the particular specialization.
The principal body entrusted with the responsibility of managing and conducting the campus recruitment process in GNLU is the Committee on Recruitment Affairs (CRA). The CRA comprises student, faculty, and staff members. To facilitate the recruitment process, the CRA functions under the guidance of the Convener and the members. The main function of the CRA is to assist in the recruitment process. It facilitates the students and the recruiters' year-round, on a rolling basis for on-campus as well as off-campus recruitment.
Apart from managing the recruitment process, the CRA has, in the past, organized lectures by alumni and experts from different industries, to give the students of GNLU an insight into the professional world of which they will be a part in the future. To provide these students with appropriate internship and recruitment opportunities where they can hone as well as discover their talents and pursue their interests, the Internship and Placement Section (IPS) continues to work, ceaselessly and selflessly, toward achieving these goals.

The University has state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure in the Campus. The University has 1 GBPS Internet connectivity of BSNL under the NMEICT project. With the implementation of this mission, the GNLU has become a part of the National Knowledge Network (NKN). The campus is WiFi-enabled. The Wi-Fi Network connectivity is available at the Hostels, Admin/Library block, Mess, Faculty cabins, and in the Guesthouse for Internet and intranet access. The University also has high-quality videoconferencing equipment. The scanning and printing facility is available on the Campus. All the Classrooms are equipped with a Multimedia Projector, Computer System, and a good audio system.
NLU insists on the submission of a complete medical history of each student at the time of admission. Several specialists in Gandhinagar can be contacted in case of emergency. The science laboratories are pillars for any institute in a science degree course, and so GNLU has developed laboratories. GNLU has a working relationship with the Directorate of Forensic Sciences, Gujarat, so that students benefit from interactions with the scientists of the Institute.
