What is the CLAT Exam?

The Consortium of National Law Universities conducts a national-level entrance exam Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) law programs. The programs are offered by 24 National Law Universities in India. The CLAT exam is used for admission and recruitment purposes by several affiliate universities and organizations across the country.

In most of the universities, the admissions to the 5-year integrated L.L.B and L.L.M programs that commence in the Academic Year 2025-2026 shall be through the CLAT 2025.

The CLAT application form for the year 2025 has to be submitted online, on or before 15 October 2024.

To apply for the exam, the candidate has to register oneself on the official website. The candidate has to follow the below steps to apply for the exam:

Application fee for General/OBC/NRI Candidates = INR 4000/-

Application fee for SC/ST/BPL/PWD category candidates= INR 3,500/-

The application fee is paid online and it is non-refundable.

To make any corrections in the CLAT 2025 Application Form, follow the below steps:

CLAT 2025 Admit Card:

The Admit Card for the CLAT 2025 exam was released on the official website on 15 November 2024, which the registered candidates have to download and take a printout of the same for further use. The candidates must remember that they cannot appear for the exam without the CLAT Admit Card.

Candidates are requested to follow the steps given below to download their Admit Card: 

1) Login to your CLAT 2025 account.

2) Click on the ‘Download Admit Card’ button.

CLAT 2025 Syllabus

The CLAT exam syllabus consists of sections such as the English Language and current affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. Each section will be provided with passages and the candidate has to focus on the below concepts in each section.

  • Read & identify the argument set out in the passage
  • Critically analyze patterns of reasoning, and assess how conclusions may depend on particular premises or evidence, and how conclusions may be strengthened or weakened as a consequence of an alteration in premises or supporting facts
  • Infer what follows from the passage and apply these inferences to new situations
  • Draw relationships and analogies, identify contradictions and equivalence, and assess the effectiveness of arguments
Quantitative Techniques
  • Derive, infer, and manipulate numerical information set
  • Apply various 10th-standard mathematical operations in areas such as ratio & proportions, basic algebra, Mensuration, and statistical estimation

CLAT PG Syllabus:

The CLAT PG will be based on mandatory subjects of the Undergraduate program and include Constitutional law, jurisprudence, Administrative law, Law of Contracts, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental law, Labor & Industrial Law.

CLAT 2025 Result

The CLAT exam results will be available online, shortly after the commencement of the exam. The candidates can download the CLAT 2025 exam results on the official website. The candidates can visit the official website, and log in using the login credentials. The candidate has to click on the result tab and download the result. The candidate has to print the scorecard for further use during the admission process.

CLAT 2025 Cutoff

The Consortium releases the cut-off before the counseling process begins, based on which the candidates can know their chances of admission to various colleges. Though the cutoff marks vary for each institute, the admission process is very much similar.
