NEET UG 2024 Counselling: Registration process

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts the NEET UG counseling process online at mcc.nic.in to allocate seats in medical colleges across India. For All India Quota (AIQ) seats, four rounds of counseling are typically held: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and a Stray Vacancy Round.  However, the number of rounds can be adjusted based on seat availability. In the past, MCC has added extra rounds for BDS and BSc Nursing courses.

The counseling process involves the allocation of seats in government, private, deemed, and central medical colleges, as well as in institutions like ESIC, AFMS, AIIMS, and JIPMER.

Here's a breakdown of the steps involved in MCC NEET counseling:

1. Seat Matrix Release: MCC publishes the seat matrix, outlining the available MBBS and BDS seats across participating universities offering 15% AIQ seats.

2. Registration: Candidates must register online for each round of counseling, excluding the Stray Vacancy round. Registration entails providing personal details, NEET 2024 Roll Number, Rank, Scores, and other required information. Non-refundable registration fees and a refundable security deposit are also required.

3. Choice Filling: Candidates must select their preferred colleges for admission. They login to the MCC website and submit their choices.  MCC recommends creating a tentative list of preferred colleges before filling in the choices online.

4. Choice Locking: Candidates must lock their submitted choices within the specified timeframe. Locking choices allow them to get a printout of their submitted preferences. It's crucial to carefully review the choices before locking them, as they cannot be modified or changed once locked.

5. Verification and Processing: Universities and colleges verify the registration details and submit choices of candidates.  Based on this information, they generate the seat allotment results and share them with MCC.

6. Seat Allotment Result: MCC releases the seat allotment result for registered candidates. Initially, a provisional result is published, allowing candidates to submit objections if necessary. Subsequently, the final seat allotment list is announced. Candidates can either accept the allocated seat and proceed to the institute reporting round or opt for an upgrade by registering for subsequent rounds of counseling.

7. Document Upload: After the seat allotment list is published, candidates must upload the necessary documents to the MCC NEET 2024 counseling website.

8. Institute Reporting: In the final step, candidates must visit the allotted institute to complete the admission process. This involves the verification of documents and payment of admission fees.

It's important to note that in the Stray Vacancy round, the seat allotment result is directly released without registration or choice-filling procedures.

2. Choice Filling: Carefully select your preferred colleges and courses, and lock in your choices.

3. Seat Allotment: The counseling process will then allocate seats based on your choices, rank, and availability.

4. Reporting to College: Once you are allotted a seat, report to the designated Medical or Dental college to complete the admission process.

5. Vacancy Publication: Any remaining vacant seats will be announced after each round of counseling.
