Eligibility: The basic criteria for applying to the program include: 

1• A bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Applicants from SC, ST, and PwD categories should have a minimum of 45% or equivalent CGPA. 

2 • A Common Admission Test (CAT) score valid on the application submission date.

1. 10th board, 12th board, and bachelor’s degree transcripts

The IIM Bangalore PI Shortlist 2025 will be released on the official website of the IIMB. The candidates who have attended the PI have to check the list on the notified date. The notification will be sent to the candidate through the mail, so the candidate must keep track of the updates on the official website.

IIM Bangalore selection process

The process of admission to IIM Bangalore is based on the relationship between the academic performance of students of the PGP in IIMB and their past academic performance, their CAT score, performance in the admission interview, and prior work experience. The following steps are included in the IIM Bangalore Admission process:

Step 1: The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2024 to be considered for the first stage screening process for admission at IIM Bangalore

Step 2: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2024 score, who have excellent academics, have applied to the program, and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the program of IIM Bangalore

Step 3: IIM Bangalore will identify many candidates for shortlisting for the PI round with an excellent academic record and work experience, but who may have narrowly missed the high score that would have been required if CAT alone was the basis for the PI shortlist. Such candidates will be preferred in the shortlisting process against those who have only a high CAT score but a poor academic profile and work experience.  The emphasis in the shortlisting process at IIM Bangalore is on consistent and high performance in academics and other parameters. 

Step 4: After the WAT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIM Bangalore to successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in WAT & PI, Performance in past academics, Performance in CAT 2024, and Quality of Work Experience among others.

Step 5: Final Admission Offer will be made by IIM Bangalore to the candidates in the third week of April 2025 based on the Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components.

Weightage distribution IIM Bangalore 2025

For candidates in the first shortlist, a pre-PI (Personal Interview) score is created. The weights for different components at the pre-PI stage are as follows : 

• CAT = 55
• 10th board score = 10
• 12th board score = 10
• Bachelor’s score = 10
• work experience = 10
• gender diversity = 5. 

The 55 points for CAT are derived from performance in each of the three sections as follows: 

• Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC) - 13 points
• Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) - 20 points
• Quantitative Aptitude (QA) - 22 points.

For all candidates called for interviews, the weights for the parameters at the post-PI stage are as follows: 

• Personal interview = 40
• WAT = 10
• CAT = 25
• 10th board score in Mathematics = 5
• 12th board score = 5
• Bachelor’s score = 5
• Work Experience = 10. 

The 25 points for CAT are derived from the performance in each of the three sections as follows: 

• Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC) - 6 points
• Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) - 9 points
• Quantitative Aptitude (QA) – 10 points. 

Final offers of admission to candidates from each category will be made strictly based on the post-PI scores. 

IIM Bangalore MBA admissions guide

The admission to the IIM Bangalore MBA program is as follows:

• Students have to appear and qualify for the CAT/GMAT.

• IIM Bangalore will declare the CAT cut-off percentage.
• Students who meet the cutoff declared by the IIM Bangalore can fill out the application form on the official website of the institute.
• Further, students have to appear for a Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI).
• Candidates will be shortlisted for IIM Bangalore admission based on the student’s performance in scholastic Achievement, Work Experience, and Performance in the WAT & PI. 
• Complete the admission process by submitting the documents and paying the IIM Bangalore fees.

IIM Bangalore CAT score expectations

The IIM Bangalore releases the CAT Scores cut-off, before the beginning of the admission process. The students who meet the cut-off scores are eligible to fill in the application form online. The CAT cut-off scores are divided section-wise for the general merit category:

• The minimum score required for Section 1 (VARC) = 80

• The minimum score required for Section 2 (DILR) = 80
• The minimum score required for Section 3 (QA)= 80

The aggregate score expected = 85

IIM Bangalore personal interview process

Candidates who fulfill the IIM CAT cut-off scores can apply for admission. The Institute calls/mails the candidate, which has to be acknowledged by the candidate. The candidate has to choose the interview dates and have to attend the interview in person. The students are selected based on their academic performance and CAT Score for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview. The Candidates have to go through the WAT, and based on their performance they are selected for the Personal Interview. The Personal Interview is conducted by the Selection Panel, this process is conducted to examine the confidence, communication, and Interpersonal skills of the candidate.

The final selection list is then released by the institute based on the overall performance of the candidate in WAT and PI.

Admission process for IIM Bangalore 2025

The IIM Bangalore admission process is a two-stage procedure, which is briefed in this section. The eligible candidates must apply online by submitting the online application form. Based on the selection criteria, the candidates are selected for the further rounds. Let us know the details of the two-stage admission process:

Stage 1:

• The PGP admission process at IIMB starts with the submission of the online application form. 
• A first shortlist is prepared comprising candidates who have secured a pre-determined minimum score on all sections of CAT 2024. Only candidates obtaining a minimum raw score that is positive in all sections of CAT 2024 will be considered. The percentile cut-off scores for admission, applied to CAT 2023, are shown in the above table.
• For candidates in the first shortlist, a pre-PI (Personal Interview) score is created. The weights for different components at the pre-PI stage are given in the above section. The gender diversity component is applicable only for computing the pre-PI score and is not used in the next stage. 
• For candidates in the first shortlist, the top ten candidates in each of the following categories automatically qualify for the PI stage: total score in CAT, CAT score in DILR, and CAT score in QA.
• Before calling candidates for the PI, IIMB will write to those candidates who are on the first shortlist. These candidates will be required to reconfirm their interest in applying to PGP 2025-27. From those who reconfirm their interest, a shortlist of students (category-wise) will be called to appear for PI/WAT based on their pre-PI Score calculated by applying the weights above.

Stage 2:

• The second stage of the admissions process at IIMB consists of a personal interview (PI) and a Written Ability Test (WAT) where candidates will be required to write a note.  
• The PI and the WAT will happen on the same day and in the same location. The duration of the WAT is approximately 30 minutes.
• The work experience weight assigned while computing the Pre-PI score is scaled down from 10 to 5 during the post-PI process to arrive at the composite score. This work experience score will be multiplied by the quality of experience score where the latter will be evaluated on a 5-point scale (0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2) by each member of the interview panel.

• Final offers of admission to candidates from each category will be made strictly based on the post-PI scores.
