NEET PG COUNSELING 2024: How to participate in Mop-Up and Stray Vacancy Rounds
The NEET PG (National Eligibility Entrance Test for Postgraduates) 2024 is a counseling round for seat allotment in central universities or institutions. The Mop-Up round of the NEET PG counseling is a very crucial phase as the primary focus of this round is to fill any vacant seats in postgraduate medical courses after the first and second rounds of counseling.

Stray Vacancy Round NEET PG
The Stray Vacancy Round for NEET PG is a very essential process as it aims at filling the remaining seats that are unallocated, into various postgraduate medical programs and courses, so that the wastage of valuable educational resources are prevented. Some of the examples of PG Medical programs are- MD, MS, MDS, Diploma, PGDNB.
The registration period for the Stray Vacancy Round typically starts after the Mop-Up round concludes. For the NEET PG 2024 Counseling, the registration for the Stray Vacancy Round will begin on November 7, 2024 and it will end on January 30, 2025.
How can we register for the Mop-Up Round?
To register for the Mop-Up Round of NEET PG Counseling, students should follow these steps?
- Students must visit the official website of the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).
- On the homepage, students must click on the link for PG Medical Counseling and then select the Online Registration option.
- Candidates must enter their details, such as, name, registration number, academic details and NEET PG result details.
- After filling up the details, candidates must pay the registration fee using credit/debit card/UPI/Net Banking.
- After the registration is over, candidates can fill in their preferences for colleges and courses. The choice list is narrow as it comprises available seats based on vacancies from previous rounds.
- After choice filling, locking of seats before the deadline is mandatory for seat allotment.
- The MCC will release the seat allotment list and selected candidates must report to the allocated institute before the deadline.
Who is eligible for NEET PG Mop-Up Round?
Before registering to participate in the Mop-Up Round, candidates must check whether they fulfill the following criteria:
- Candidates who did not attain a seat in Round 1, as well as Round 2 of NEET PG Counseling, are eligible to participate in the Mop-Up Round, but they do not need to register again.
- Candidates who were allotted seats in Round 1 or Round 2, but failed to report to the institution, must register for the Mop-Up Round.
- Candidates who were allotted a seat under any quota, such as, All India Quota or State Quota, but they had their allotment canceled during document verification are also eligible.
- Candidates who did not participate in any of the earlier rounds, must register themselves for the Mop-Up Round.
