The most awaited CAT result 2023 has been released today on 21st December 2023. This year, 14 candidates scored 100 percentile and 29 got 99.99 percentile. This year a total of 2.88 lakh candidates appeared in the exam of which 64% were males, 36% were females and 5 candidates were transgender.
CAT is the most important exam for admission into the top IIMs and more than 1200 B-schools across India. This year CAT witnessed a remarkable increase in registration, reaching a whopping 3.3 lakh which is an impressive 30% increase in comparison to the previous year and this is the highest number of registrations in any decade. Apart from the CAT score, there are additional components that are important for the selection process such as the written ability test (WAT) and interview rounds (IR). Still, some of the other B-schools require applicants to have work experience at the time of selection.
The cutoff percentile for the top IIMs such as IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Kozhikode is expected to remain at the 98+ percentile for the general category. Candidates can expect up to 90 to 95 percentile for other non-IIMs like MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR, and XIME and 90-99 percentile for other non-IIMs institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and FMS Delhi.

The cut-off is the minimum score that candidates must have to secure admission into the top IIMs and other reputed B-schools in India. The CAT cutoff is determined based on various factors including the total number of test takers, the number of available seats, and the difficulty level of the CAT examination. The students need to score higher than the cutoff to increase their possibility of getting admitted to the top management programs and institutions.
