This is the next crucial step which will pave your way to a career in the medical field. This counselling session is the opportunity for you to secure a medical seat in your matching rank and preferences. We are here in this blog to discuss every detail about NEET UG Counselling 2024 starting from its types of counselling, the process step by step and much more.
NEET UG Counselling is conducted for eligible candidates who get admission in medical and dental colleges of India through NEET UG rank, preferences from their side during the form filling time as well seat availability. This counselling is held by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and state level authorities to offer fair admission. Once you qualify for NEET, this is where it will take you to secure your seat in a government/pvt/deemed university.
It is a centralised counselling for all AIQs and conducted by MCC that permits the qualified NEET UG candidates to get admission in their desired Top Medical Colleges of India. 15% of the total seats in government medical colleges come under this quota. AIQ seats are available for all India quota, candidates from any state can apply and this is present in institutions like AIIMS, JIPMER etc.
State Quota Counselling is conducted by the different state authorities to provide admission in MBBS courses for those candidates who have domicile of that state. Under this quota, 85% of the seats are booked back to state govt schools. The counselling process and eligibility of each state to be followed by the applicants are different.
In the NEET UG Counselling, Deemed universities, central universities and ESIC (Employees' State Insurance Corporation) medical colleges also take part. There are some special provisions for institutions and students can apply through the MCC portal. The process will be similar to AIQ counselling but the seats are earmarked for these universities.
Eligibility for appearing in NEET UG 2024 Counselling:
Step-1: Register online on MCC or respective state authority website Enter your basic details, NEET UG roll number & upload documents
This will redirect you to a page where you can fill up a form and specify college & courses of your preference. Get researching and try to back some realistic targets. After you have made your selections, lock in those choices and proceed to the next step.
The seat allotment process is conducted via multiple rounds by the Candidate ranks, preferences and availability of seats. The result will be published on the counselling website, and you have to download your allotment letter.
If you are given a seat, then you must show up to the college at which it was provided during the period. Getting all your documents verified and Admission fees paid for confirming the seat.

Anxiety and Stress is a given: Obviously, feeling anxious IS natural but try to remain as calm as your brain prepares you for. Just be mindful and make sure you are not taking any decision out of the emotional wreck.
Missed Allotment: If you are not alloted with a seat in the first round, do not demoralized. Continue to participate in other rounds too as there are chances of conversion.
Your medical journey to success will begin from NEET UG Counselling 2024. Keep in the know, get that documentation in order and play smart. And keep in mind that patience and preparation are everything. Good luck!
